Chariho Soccer 2021 Spring Competitive League Initial Registration
http://www.chariho.com
Welcome to Registration for Chariho Soccer's Spring 2021 Competitive Season!
Time-sensitive action is required for any players that wish to play on a competitive team this spring. In order to have a season we will need families and players to complete registration by February 14. Please read below for more information.
- Any families interested in playing competitive soccer this spring must register by February 14th!
- There will be no tryouts. All players are invited to register, but registration does not guarantee team placement – we will strive to create enough teams for each registrant, but if participation numbers are high our limiting factor will likely be availability of certified coaches to draft enough teams.
- Competitive fees remain unchanged, $125 per player. But no fees are due today for this initial registration. If your player is rostered on a team then a separate email will be sent out prior to February 27th with instruction to complete registration payment. Should the spring season be cancelled prior to the first two weekends of play, Super Liga will refund 50% of fees. After the second weekend of the season there will be no refunds.
- Games begin the weekend of 4/10 and run until 6/12. No games on Memorial Day weekend.
- A new headshot (head and shoulders only) for all players is required when you register. Please ensure this is a clear, well-lit picture, straight-on with the player looking at the camera so we can see their full face.
- All players also require age verification - please submit a picture of a birth certificate or passport for you player(s) with your registration. If you submitted a birth certificate to Chariho Soccer in 2019 or 2020 you do not need to resubmit. The registrar, Jim McCabe, will reach out to any family who does not have an age verification document on record.
- If you are a new player or need new competitive uniforms you will need to place your order before March 6th (ordering information will be provided in a separate email to players who are placed on a team).
- All players must wear face coverings at all times, including while playing on the field. Every player will be allowed two spectators at each game. All spectators must wear a mask at all time and remain at least 14’ from the field and social distance at least 6’ from other spectators.
- Each team must have one or two volunteer COVID-19 coordinators (cannot be players, coaches, or refs) at every home game that will monitor and enforce COVID-19 guidelines for players, coaches, referees, and spectators. We will need parents to help out with this and will provide the information/training to those that can help. Coaches will coordinate this with parents for their individual teams. This is a Super Liga requirement we must fulfill. If you can help out with this, please email Bob Marvel, volunteers@chariho.com
- If you have interest in coachin/co-coaching a competitive team, please reach out to Stephanie Rice, competitive@chariho.com
- Any families interested in playing competitive soccer this spring must register by February 14th!
SUPER LIGA COVID-19 PROVISIONS:
- COVID-19 Testing: The updated guidance encourages athletes and coaches who participate in sports to obtain a COVID-19 test weekly (or more frequently). The guidance also encourages sports leagues, organizations and indoor sports facilities to promote weekly testing through education and outreach or to establish policies that require weekly COVID-19 testing of participants and members. The Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) is strongly encouraged to work with superintendents and athletic directors to have athletes, coaches, and staff taking part in RIIL sports activities obtain a COVID-19 test weekly.
· COVID-19 Positive Case and Quarantine: The updated guidance strengthens protocols if RIDOH identifies a positive COVID-19 case or outbreak connected to an athlete, coach, official, or sports team or organization. Specifically, the updated guidance advises that participants and organizations should immediately cease activities associated with the positive case or outbreak, cooperate fully and promptly with RIDOH case investigation and contact tracing, and follow the instructions provided from RIDOH regarding the need to quarantine and when activities may resume.
· No Out-of-State Sports: All sports organizations are prohibited from participating in tournaments, matches, games, competitions, camps, clinics and practices with out-of-state teams or sporting groups (except for professional and intercollegiate programs).
· Clarification of the Definition of “Sports Organizations”: This term includes organizations or individuals that operate sports leagues, camps and clinics.
· Face Coverings: Face coverings are required at all times, for all sports participants and spectators, indoors and outside, with the exception of swimming and water sports.
· Pending COVID-19 Tests: Participants (athletes, coaches, officials, spectators, etc.) with pending COVID-19 tests who are symptomatic or have been in close contact with someone who is COVID-19 positive should not attend games, practices or any sports activity while waiting for their test results, unless they are part of routine asymptomatic testing programs. Sports organizations are strongly encouraged to develop disciplinary policies to penalize persons who violate this provision.
· Gatherings: Indoor sports facilities and sports organizations should discourage coaches, parents and players from gathering before and after games and practices and should discourage in person meetings and social events.
