SYSA Fall 2020/Spring 2021
Hi, parents! Welcome to SYSA! This notification contains some helpful introductory info as we begin the season. We will email updates to you when needed. You can also find info about the soccer season via Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
We recommend choosing one of those avenues that works best for you and keeping yourself informed throughout the season so you don't miss anything! Please do stay informed. We realize it's a lot of information to take in, but everyone on the soccer board works really hard to compile all that information, so please read it thoroughly and research a bit before asking questions. Then when you do have questions that we haven't answered, we promise to answer them promptly and professionally! :)
We also have a Remind texting group that you can join by texting @searcyysa to 81010. Remind texts are the very best way to stay informed about time-sensitive field closures and rainouts throughout the season. If that group reaches capacity of 150 members, please don't be surprised if you're moved to one of our other groups. We have four separate Remind threads in order to accommodate our large patronage.
Here are some important dates to keep in mind this fall, though everything is subject to change depending on COVID guidelines we receive from Arkansas State Soccer:
The online registration deadline is August 25th at noon.
In-person registration is August 25th from 5:30-7:00 at the Carmichael Center.
Fall workday is August 29th at 8:00 a.m.
The U12+ skills assessment and draft is September 1st at 6:00.
The U10 skills assessment and draft is September 3rd at 6:00.
The U7/8 skills assessment and draft is September 8th at 6:00.
Team practices should start the week of September 14th.
The season begins on September 19th and ends October 31st.
Your coach will give you all the info you need about game times and weekly practices when you hear from him/her. If you haven't heard from a coach by September 10th, please reach out to us. Before that date, you shouldn't really expect to hear from a coach, partly because we're still recruiting coaches!
Here are some upcoming events!
Soccer Workday is Saturday morning (August 29th) from 8 a.m. to noon at the Searcy Soccer Complex! Anyone who comes to work for two hours will receive a $25 refund of registration fees. This is open to capable kiddos or parents, but it's limited to one refund per child.
Skills Assessments will take place from September 1-8, depending on your child's age division!
Players in the U4-U6 age divisions (birth years 2015-2017) don't need to do assessments. Skills assessments will take place at the Searcy Soccer Complex, using the fields around the concession stands. If your child is not able to attend the skills assessment for their age division, don't worry! If that happens, he or she will just be randomly assigned to a team.
Team uniforms (including socks) are provided, so you will only need to purchase shin guards and soccer cleats (without a baseball toe cleat). You might also like to purchase a soccer ball for your child to practice with, but this isn't mandatory. Here are the appropriate sizes:
Size 3 soccer ball for U4-U7
Size 4 soccer ball for U8-U12
Size 5 soccer ball for U13-U14
Please private message us with your child's name and birth year if you have specific questions! Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end and for supporting SYSA!
